At Kitmaii, we proudly stock Honeybee Reusable Wax Wraps — beautifully handmade, practical, and designed to replace single-use cling wrap in everyday food storage.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to use them, care for them, and extend their life.

What Are Reusable Wax Wraps?

Reusable wax wraps are made from cotton fabric infused with a blend of beeswax, tree resin and plant oils. This combination creates a flexible, breathable wrap that moulds around food and containers using the warmth of your hands.

They’re:

  • Reusable
  • Compostable at end of life
  • Plastic-free
  • Naturally antibacterial

A simple swap with a big impact 🤍

How to Use Honeybee Reusable Wax Wraps

One of the best things about wax wraps is how versatile they are. Once you start using them, you’ll wonder how you lived without them.

  • Cucumber ends
  • Herbs
  • Carrots & celery

Simply press the wrap around the food using the warmth of your hands. It will hold its shape as it cools.

🥪 Wrap Sandwiches & Snacks

  • School lunches
  • Work lunches

They fold beautifully around sandwiches, wraps, muffins and slices — keeping food fresh without plastic.

🥗 Cover Bowls & Plates

Use them to:

  • Cover leftover salads
  • Store prepped veggies
  • Seal mixing bowls
  • Cover sourdough while resting

Press firmly around the rim of the bowl to create a gentle seal.

🧀 Store Cheese & Bread

Wax wraps are breathable, which makes them ideal for:

  • Hard cheeses
  • Sourdough loaves
  • Artisan breads
  • Unlike plastic wrap, they allow food to breathe while still protecting it.

What NOT to Use Them For

To keep your wraps in great condition, avoid:

  • Raw meat or fish
  • Very hot foods
  • Microwaves or ovens
  • Dishwashers

Heat will melt the wax — so always use with cool or room-temperature foods.

How to Wash & Care for Your Wax Wraps

Looking after your wraps is simple:

  1. Rinse in cool water (not hot).
  2. Use a mild dish soap if needed.
  3. Gently wipe with a cloth or sponge.
  4. Air dry.

Store folded in a drawer or basket and in a hot climate wax wraps can be stored in the fridge

With proper care, your Honeybee wraps can last 6–12 months or longer 💚

When They Need a Freshen Up…

Over time, you may notice your wraps aren’t as sticky or flexible as they once were. Don’t throw them away — refresh them!

Using the Honeybee Reusable Wax Wrap Refresher Bar, you can easily restore your wraps at home via two methods - the iron method or the oven method.

How to Refresh Your Wraps:

Iron Method :

  1. Lay down a piece of Baking Paper
  2. Place wax wrap on the paper
  3. Grate wax from the Refresher Bar and place shavings evenly over the wax wrap.
  4. Cover with another piece of Baking Paper
  5. Iron over the paper until the wax has melted.
  6. While still hot peel off the Baking Paper (don't let it cool down or the wrap will stick to the Baking Paper).
  7. Leave refreshed wrap to cool.

Oven Method :

  1. Preheat your oven to low (around 100–120°C).
  2. Place your wrap on baking paper on a tray.
  3. Grate a small amount of the Refresher Bar evenly over the wrap.
  4. Place in the oven for a few minutes until melted.
  5. Remove and lift carefully to air dry.

The fresh wax coating brings your wraps back to life — extending their lifespan and reducing waste even further.

Sustainability isn’t just about buying better — it’s about making what you already own last longer 🤍

When your wrap has truly reached the end of its life, you can:
